Beijing TianTan Hospital , Capital Medical University (hereinafter referred to as “Beijing TianTan Hospital”) was founded on August 23, 1956. It is a tertiary Grade A comprehensive hospital led by neurosurgery and characterized by a neuroscience cluster, integrating medicine, education, research, and prevention. It is an Asian neurosurgery clinical, scientific research, and teaching base. The National Clinical Medical Research Center for Neurological Diseases, the National Medical Quality Control Center for Neurological Diseases, the National Physician Qualification Examination Practice Skills Examination Base, the National Cerebrovascular Disease Prevention and Treatment Office, the WHO Neuroscience Training Cooperation Center, the Beijing Institute of Neurosurgery, and the Fifth Clinical Medical College of Capital Medical University are all located in the hospital.
Previously, the hospital had 3 national key disciplines and 5 national clinical key specialties. Among them, neurosurgery and neurology ranked first in both China’s hospital technology value rankings in 2017 and 2018; It has one academician of the CAS Member, two Beijing scholars, one of the first batch of young Yangtze River scholars from the Ministry of Education, three members of the Ten Thousand Talents Plan, and one national talent of one hundred million and ten thousand talents; Won one of the highest national scientific and technological progress awards, one first prize and four second prizes of the national scientific and technological progress award; 15 doctoral programs and 25 master’s programs have been approved, with 70 doctoral supervisors and 142 master’s supervisors.
Introduction to Beijing Institute of Neurosurgery
The research institute has a complete range of disciplines, including 14 basic research rooms including Cell Biology Room, Neuromolecular Pathology Room, Pathophysiology Research Room, Neurodrug Development Room, Neuroinjury Repair Room, Neuroepidemiology Room, Brain Tumor Research Room, Functional Neurosurgery Research Room, Brain Trauma Room, Neuroanatomy Room, Functional Neuroimaging Research Room, as well as 6 clinical research rooms including Neuropathology Center, Neuroelectrophysiology Room, Neurointervention Research Room, and Gamma Knife Research Room. It has strong capabilities in basic research and neuroscience clinical translational medicine research, application, and promotion. In recent years, the research institute has laid out multiple industrial plans, strengthened the research and development of new drugs and independent innovation of medical devices, obtained 91 patent authorizations, 30 software copyrights, and completed the transformation of 7 scientific and technological achievements. In 2021, the Beijing Engineering Research Center for Targeted Drugs and Cell Therapy of Neurological Tumors was approved by the Beijing Development and Reform Commission. It will establish three major platforms for targeted drug research and development, immunotherapy innovation, and molecular diagnostic development, and carry out research and development of new neurotumor drugs and molecular diagnostic products, clinical trials, and the transformation of scientific and technological achievements.
